EMR Coordinator (0.4 FTE - Perm)
POSITION SUMMARY
The EMR Coordinator’s role is to support Patient Medical Home (PMH) processes and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) expertise to clinics and the PCN central office. The EMR Coordinator shall function as a member of the quality improvement team including collaboration with the interdisciplinary health care team. The EMR Coordinator assists in building capacity in the clinic setting supporting PMH optimization including such activities as panel processes, PMH measurement as well as other priorities such as CII/CPAR.
- Current shift times include 8:00 AM to 4:15 PM
- Pay range, based on experience $26.78 - $33.92
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be responsible for assisting physician and central offices with the use of their Electronic Medical Record. The role will help to provide support for building panel identification and maintenance processes in offices as well as assisting the PCN in provincial reporting requirements. The EMR Coordinator will support clinic teams to implement and/or optimize PMH elements, aiming to improve patient health and quality of life while improving day-to-day function of the clinic.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop professional, trusted relationships with team members (including physicians, clinic staff, office managers, PCN employees and management)
- Teaching and supporting clinics to identify, develop and maintain key PMH processes such as panel management, primary and secondary health screening.
- Develop and support clinics in PCN level reporting, including Schedule B indicators
- Compile data from multiple sources to support PCN level reporting.
- Super user of Electronic Medical Records to support clinics in EMR optimization needs, such as building templates and reports
- Liaison with EMR vendors and other external stakeholders (ie. EHealth)
- Educate clinic and PCN staff on various elements of the PMH such as panel management and processes
- Work with all members of the clinical team in a coordinated and collaborative effort to engage, encourage and support patient health enabling the physician to spend more time providing care to patients and less time performing “non-physician” activities.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum MOA certification or equivalent
- 3 years of primary care experience with an EMR platform (e.g. Healthquest, Wolf, Accuro, MedAccess, etc.)
- Experience as panel manager/patient care coordinator
- Practice Facilitation training through AMA ACTT will be considered an asset
- Change management training desired
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Extensive education and experience with common Alberta EMRS (e.g. Healthquest, Med Access, Wolf etc.), including reporting.
- Facilitation and leadership experience
- Knowledge and experience of QI principles and ability to utilize the model for improvement
- Communication, problem solving, organizational and time management
- Independent and self-directed
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft: Excel, Word, Teams, Power Point etc.
- Strong understanding of primary care clinic operations and the ability to support clinic staff in learning new skills

Other Occupational Requirements
- A current and clear criminal records check is required
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Frequent travel between member clinics within the Primary Care Network, Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan offices
- Hours may vary to accommodate clinic schedules, including evening hours and weekends, flexibility will be required.
