Sherwood Park–Strathcona County Primary Care Network (SPPCN)
Sherwood Park, Alberta | Full-time

Lead with purpose. Help shape the future of primary care.
The Sherwood Park–Strathcona County Primary Care Network is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Executive Director to lead a physician-governed organization committed to strengthening primary care in urban and rural settings.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide strategic, operational, financial, and organizational leadership for a team of approximately 100 employees and work closely with more than 200 physician members. This is an exciting opportunity to guide a respected community-based organization, support an engaged and talented team, and work alongside physicians and various stakeholders to improve access, coordination, quality, and experience for patients.

We are looking for a collaborative leader who is energized by complexity, comfortable navigating change, and motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in community-based health care.

The Opportunity
As Executive Director, you will translate the Board’s vision and priorities into clear plans and measurable results. You will oversee SPPCN’s programs, people, finances, operations, partnerships, and organizational performance while ensuring the organization meets its legislative, contractual, funding, and governance responsibilities.

You will also play an important role in anticipating emerging needs, strengthening relationships, and positioning SPPCN for continued success in an evolving primary care environment.

Why This Role Matters
Primary care is evolving, and SPPCN has an important role in helping patients receive timely, coordinated, team-based care close to home.

In this role, you will bring people, ideas, and resources together to strengthen services, respond to changing community needs, and advance opportunities for collaboration and innovation. Your leadership will have a direct impact on physicians, staff, partners, patients, and the communities SPPCN serves.

The Leader We Are Looking For
You see the big picture while maintaining a clear focus on execution and outcomes. You lead with integrity, professionalism, curiosity, and respect.

You remain composed in complex situations, make thoughtful and timely decisions, and approach challenges with resilience and a solutions-focused mindset. You ask constructive questions, address difficult issues directly, and create the conditions for others to do their best work.

You also understand that meaningful progress is built through relationships. You listen carefully, communicate clearly, welcome diverse perspectives, and bring people together around shared goals.

What You Bring
  • A bachelor’s degree in health administration, business administration, public administration, health sciences, or a related field.
  • A graduate degree in business, health administration, public policy, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least five years of progressive senior leadership experience in a complex organization, with responsibility for strategy, operations, finances, people, and risk.
  • Experience working with a governing Board and leading business planning, financial management, human resources, organizational change, quality improvement, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory or contractual compliance.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, sound judgement, and political acuity.
  • Experience overseeing multi-million dollar budgets, ensuring disciplined cost control, and rigorous financial planning and forecasting.
  • Demonstrated success leading, coaching, and developing leaders and teams.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in primary care, health care, or a not-for-profit organization is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, financial software, and other technologies used to support reporting, analysis, and decision-making.
